The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hayanusa fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Hayanusa tries to clinch but Mendes is having none of it.
Mendes stuffs the takedown attempt from Hayanusa. Hayanusa gets slowly back to his feet.
Hayanusa shoots in for a takedown but Mendes shows good takedown defense.

Mendes connects with a leg kick. Hayanusa looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

Mendes thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Hayanusa if he has to take too many more of those.

Mendes is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Hayanusa has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
Mendes just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
Well, with Mendes on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Hayanusa is tapping out... Can he escape the position?
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Mendes's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Hayanusa rolls with it to try and escape but Mendes cranks on the arm and Hayanusa is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
