PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Michael Williamson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shane Steele (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Steele has chosen Back the Fuck Up -- Fear Factory as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Michael Williamson has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Michael Williamson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Shane Steele!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, David Schapiro and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Williamson throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Williamson fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Steele, pushing him back against the cage.
Williamson is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Williamson lands a knee to the head.


Steele is rocked!


It looks like Shane Steele has been cut.

Williamson has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Steele clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Steele is still in real trouble! Can Williamson finish him?
Steele should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Williamson looking to break Steele's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Steele remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Williamson will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
I really don't envy Steele right now.
Steele seems to have recovered his senses.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Steele turns into Williamson and is now in his guard.
Steele passes Williamson's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Williamson missing with punches from the bottom.

Steele is working for a submission of some sort.
Williamson tries to roll over but Steele keeps him under control.

Williamson trying to control but Steele postures up.
Williamson is trying to get back to full guard.
Steele moves into full mount! Williamson won't be happy about that!

Steele is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Williamson can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Steele has control of Williamson's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Williamson regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Williamson wants to control but Steele is having none of it.
Williamson really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Williamson is working hard here to advance position.

Steele trying to control but he's not successful this time.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Steele is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Williamson has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Steele looks gassed!
Williamson wants to hold on but Steele pushes him away.
Williamson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Steele on the ground.
Steele wants to take his opponent's back but Williamson doesn't allow it.

Steele has hold of Williamson's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Williamson manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Williamson can't escape the position.

Williamson throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing.
Williamson can't escape the position.
Williamson wants to control but Steele is having none of it.
Williamson is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
Williamson is working to get back to half guard.
Steele is trying to stand up but he's being controlled by his opponent.
Williamson is trying to reverse the position but instead Steele has taken his back - oops!
Williamson is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
Williamson staying busy and making it hard for Steele to control.

Steele has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Williamson has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Williamson tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Williamson is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Steele locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Williamson is forced to tap!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Shane Steele!
