Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Fred Smoot (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hacky Sack (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Smoot kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is new York. Sack comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Sweet home alabama kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Fred Smoot has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sack throws out a powerful jab.

It looks like Fred Smoot has been cut.
Smoot keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Smoot moves out of range of the leg kick from Sack.
Sack swings for the body but Smoot moves out of range.
Sack is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Smoot.
Sack throws out a loose jab but Smoot uses good head movement to avoid it.
Smoot tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Sack manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Sack swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Smoot throws a head kick that misses.

Smoot goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Smoot tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Sack manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Sack seems to have recovered his senses.
Smoot wants to control the pace but Sack is squirming around nicely.

Smoot is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Sack has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Sack!

Smoot wants to stall.
Smoot tries a knee to the head but Sack blocks it.
Sack tries to work over Smoot's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Smoot lands a hook to the side of the head.
Sack misses with a hook to the ribs.
Smoot is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Sack is keeping busy.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Smoot obliges.

Smoot throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Sacks head.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Sack thows a big elbow that misses.

Smoot has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Sack off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Sack with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Smoot to score with a decent uppercut.

Smoot gets control of Sack's arms and successfully pulls guard. Smoot will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Sack on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Smoot's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Smoot uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Sack.
Smoot takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

The fight stays on the outside here - Smoot looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Sack is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Smoot rather than just go for the knockout.

Sack throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Smoot stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Smoot jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Sack walks away with a smile on his face. Smoot gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Smoot is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Sack to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Sack shrugs it off.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Smoot is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Smoot extends the arm and Sack is forced to tap!
