Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ken Masters (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Busta Rhymes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ken Masters!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Busta Rhymes!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, George Francis and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rhymes throws a head kick that misses.
Rhymes shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Masters darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Masters wants to free his trapped foot but Rhymes is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Masters is looking for a kimura but Rhymes is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Masters to get the leverage.
Rhymes is trying to get back to full guard.

Masters is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Rhymes doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Masters.

Rhymes is looking to improve his position.

Masters is working for a submission of some sort.
Rhymes wants to control but Masters is keeping busy.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Rhymes gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Masters counters with a nice double leg into side control. Rhymes won't be happy with that.
Rhymes prevents Masters from improving position.

Masters is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Rhymes is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Rhymes is looking to reverse the position.
Masters has knee on belly momentarily but Rhymes bucks him off and regains half guard.
Rhymes is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Masters is breathing heavily.

Rhymes makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Rhymes.
Rhymes trying to control the position.
Masters trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Rhymes throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Masters escapes and throws Rhymes's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Masters is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Rhymes knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Rhymes gets back to half guard.
Rhymes regains full guard. Nicely done.

Rhymes pulls Masters in close to prevent any damage.
Rhymes is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Rhymes sitting and controlling from the half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Masters looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Rhymes controlling the pace.
I looks like Rhymes might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Rhymes is looking to take a break and control but Masters is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Despite being in the dominant position, Busta Rhymes just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Rhymes feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Rhymes avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Masters working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Rhymes doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Rhymes manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

That was a close round but I would say that Ken Masters will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Masters with a poor takedown

and Rhymes counters with a single leg into guard. Masters didn't expect that.

Masters looking for a guillotine here but Rhymes defends easily.
Rhymes slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Rhymes's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Masters keeping moving, preventing Rhymes from controlling successfully.
Busta Rhymes has got the better of the ground game so far.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Rhymes is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Masters passes Rhymes's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Masters is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Rhymes is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Masters has just dragged him back down to the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Busta Rhymes will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's time! Masters's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!



Masters shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Rhymes's guard.
Masters stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rhymes swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Rhymes is trying to keep Masters in close.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Masters goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Rhymes has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Masters but great work by Rhymes.

and Rhymes decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Masters's guard.

Rhymes tries to free his leg and advance position but Masters is retaining full guard.
Rhymes wants to control from the top but Masters keeps moving.
Masters avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Rhymes looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Masters working for a triangle but Rhymes defends it easily.
Rhymes sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Masters's guard.
Rhymes wants to control but Masters is keeping him busy.

Rhymes passes the guard and advances to mount!
Masters keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Rhymes controlling his opponent.
Rhymes trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Masters is wriggling around trying to escape.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Rhymes can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Masters is looking to escape.
Masters can't escape the position.
Rhymes tries to control but Masters wriggling away.
Rhymes working the ground and pound effectively.
Masters is looking to get to half guard.
Rhymes looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.

And that's the end of the fight!
Busta Rhymes comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Rhymes has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
