PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Adam Blackburn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alexander Lipkin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Blackburn comes into the arena with Forever blaring out of the sound system. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Alexander Lipkin!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, James Ackerman and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Blackburn throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Blackburn fails to land with a series of punches.
Both fighters circling a little - Lipkin finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Lipkin buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Blackburn will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Lipkin avoids a punch combination nicely.
Lipkin scores with a head kick. Blackburn tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
A combination from Blackburn does no damage.
Adam Blackburn seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The fighters circling - Lipkin throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Blackburn rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Lipkin moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Lipkin is pushing down on Blackburn's leg trying to pass to half guard. Blackburn is fighting to maintain full guard but Lipkin has managed to sneak the leg through.
Lipkin is looking to take a break and control but Blackburn is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Lipkin thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Lipkin is looking to pass Blackburn's guard but actually Blackburn recovers to full guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Blackburn looks like he's trying to stand up.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Lipkin tries to pass to full mount but Blackburn defends it.
Lipkin is trying to control the action in half guard but Blackburn is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Lipkin looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Blackburn throws a nice looking combination but Lipkin bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Lipkin fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Blackburn has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Blackburn stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Lipkin.

Blackburn swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Lipkin lands a head kick. Blackburn smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

Blackburn parries the strikes from Lipkin easily there. Lipkin is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Blackburn to escape.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Blackburn takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Lipkin is looking to take a break and control but Blackburn is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Lipkin might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Blackburn kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Blackburn dodges the ground and pound from Lipkin.
The ground and pound from Lipkin seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

Blackburn is not content to let Lipkin control the position.
Lipkin has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Lipkin lands with a kick to the temple. Blackburn shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Blackburn misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Lipkin feints and then cracks Blackburn's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Blackburn down.

Lipkin throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Lipkin connects with a solid leg kick.

Blackburn tries to keep at a distance but Lipkin has taken the fight into the clinch.
Lipkin's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

A combination from Blackburn does no damage.
Blackburn tries to bum rush Lipkin with a series of wild strikes but Lipkin uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Blackburn takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
Lipkin throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Lipkin - that will leave a mark!
Crunch! Lipkin slams his shin into Blackburn's torso.
Lipkin connects with a solid leg kick.
Lipkin throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

Lipkin moves into the clinch.
The referee is keeping an eye on Lipkin - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Lipkin breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Blackburn is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
Lipkin throws a nice head kick!

Lipkin lets loose with a powerful body kick. Blackburn will feel that in the morning.
Lipkin lands a leg kick that knocks Blackburn off balance momentarily.
Lipkin throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Lipkin.

Lipkin shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Blackburn manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Alexander Lipkin.
Lipkin tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Blackburn swivels and escapes.

Alexander Lipkin comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Lipkin has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
