Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Gary Dobbin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Drake Melfred (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Gary Dobbin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Drake Melfred!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, William Gold and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dobbin closes the distance and clinches.
Dobbin has a couple of punches blocked by Melfred.
Dobbin tries to break the clinch but Melfred is controlling the position.
Melfred tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Dobbin just stands there and leans against the cage.
Melfred has Dobbin pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Dobbin manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Melfred pulls guard.
Dobbin trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Melfred looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Dobbin tries to free his leg and advance position but Melfred is retaining full guard.
Dobbin throws a strike but Melfred rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Melfred stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Melfred drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Melfred must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Dobbin is adopting a defensive guard.
Melfred won't allow Dobbin to sweep him here.

Melfred wants to control from the top but Dobbin keeps moving.

Dobbin is looking for a triangle but Melfred pushes his legs off easily.

Dobbin controls Melfred momentarily but Melfred frees himself.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Melfred tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Dobbin counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Dobbin is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Melfred defends it well.
Dobbin thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Melfred is trying to get back to full guard.
Melfred is refusing to be controlled, as Dobbin sits in half guard.
Dobbin scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

Dobbin not doing much here.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Melfred is looking to control Dobbin's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Melfred avoid being mounted?
Melfred is looking to improve his position.
Dobbin is trying to control. Melfred wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Dobbin is taking a breather. Melfred says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Melfred is refusing to be controlled, as Dobbin sits in half guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Gary Dobbin.

Dobbin fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Melfred, pushing him back against the cage.
Dobbin is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Melfred is keeping busy.

Melfred breaks from the clinch.
Melfred misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Gary Dobbin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Drake Melfred.
Dobbin shoots and misses

and Melfred counters by clinching up.

Melfred gets control of Dobbin's arms and successfully pulls guard. Melfred will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Dobbin looking to sit in guard and control but Melfred gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Dobbin is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Dobbin gets the takedown into side control.
Dobbin connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Melfred some visible discomfort.
Dobbin controls the position from side control.
Melfred is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
The referee asks Dobbin politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Dobbin prefers to stall for the moment though.
Dobbin is putting a hurting on Melfred here, landing some big shots from side control.
Dobbin wants to control but Melfred is keeping him busy.

An elbow from Dobbin crashes against the mat.
Melfred is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Dobbin is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
Dobbin takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dobbin misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Dobbin tries to control but Melfred wriggling away.
Melfred keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Melfred is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Melfred tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Melfred has given up his back here.
Melfred is breathing heavily.
Melfred staying busy and making it hard for Dobbin to control.

Dobbin struggling to keep hold of the position.

Dobbin is looking for the choke from the back position but Melfred is controlling his hands well.

Dobbin somehow managing to miss with a strike from the back.

Melfred avoids the strikes from the bottom by Dobbin.

Dobbin is trying to control Melfred's posture but Melfred avoids it.
Dobbin tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Melfred presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!

Melfred manages to capitalize on a mistake by Dobbin to take his back!
Melfred controlling well, preventing Dobbin from escaping the position.
Melfred is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

Well Dobbin has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
