PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rashad Evans (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Michael Batista (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Radbod Blank and Patrick Alders.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Batista defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Evans.
Batista goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Batista tries to sprawl but Evans drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Evans thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Batista's head.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Batista can do anything to dispel that myth.
Evans passes the guard and advances to mount!
Poor strikes thrown by Evans there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Evans misses with a head shot.
Evans punching from mount but Batista doing a good job of avoiding damage.
Evans thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!

Evans throwing strikes here but Batista is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Evans will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

It looks like David Michael Batista has been cut.

Evans looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Evans throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Batista because Evans loaded up on that one.
Evans misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Evans misses with a head shot.
Batista really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Evans. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Evans unloads with some shots from mount but Batista bucks and avoids them well.

Evans has control of Batista's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Batista regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Evans has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
