Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Renato Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Karl James Noons (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alves comes into the arena with Ultimate Victory blaring out of the sound system. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Karl James Noons!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Luis Engracia and Seu Braga.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Noons lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Alves circles away quickly and effectively.
Noons slips under a jab from Alves.
Noons throws a head kick that misses.
Noons looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Some wild striking there from Alves.
Noons throws a combination that misses

and Alves holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Alves breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Noons avoids a punch combination nicely.
Noons misses with a combination
and Alves counters with a low kick, right behind Noons 's knee.

Alves bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Alves tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Alves has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Alves wants to lay and pray for a moment but Noons keeps working.
Noons is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Alves has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Alves scores with punches from side control.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Alves is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Noons has escaped the position, nice work there.
Noons is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Alves is controlling him well.
Noons looks gassed!
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Noons is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Alves has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Noons takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Alves throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Alves throws a strike aimed at the side of Noons's head but Noons avoids it well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Alves advances to full mount.
Alves controlling the pace for now.
Alves has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Noons is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Noons is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
Alves trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Alves wants to finish this one by submission but Noons is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Alves.
Noons is trying to escape the mount but Alves keeps good control and instead manages to take Noons's back.

Alves is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Noons with him. Noons is trying to defend but Alves has an arm under the chin now! Noons grimaces and is forced to tap out!
