PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jarno Highwayz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tommi Kaleva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kaleva has chosen Fort Minor - Remember The Name as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. On his way into the cage it seems that Jarno Highwayz has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Jarno Highwayz seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Johanna Lukiainen and Marco Blurström.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kaleva throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Highwayz's waist but Highwayz gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Kaleva off to one side.
Kaleva wants to clinch up but Highwayz keeps it at a distance.
Kaleva throws a sloppy head kick and Highwayz moves out of range easily.
Highwayz shoots in but no luck this time.

Kaleva fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Highwayz, pushing him back against the cage.
Kaleva is working for takedown but Highwayz is calmly controlling the position for now.

Jarno Highwayz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tommi Kaleva.
Highwayz is pressed up against the cage. Kaleva has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Highwayz down to the mat. Highwayz avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Highwayz shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Kaleva's guard.

Kaleva looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Highwayz has picked Kaleva up and slammed him! Kaleva can't keep hold of the triangle and Highwayz manages to pass to side control!

Highwayz shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Highwayz showed some decent athleticism there.
Kaleva wants to improve his position but Highwayz is controlling well.

Highwayz wants to stand up but Kaleva has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Kaleva is looking to control Highwayz's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Kaleva avoid being mounted?

Kaleva is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Highwayz pulls his head out easily.

Highwayz dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Kaleva. That did some damage!

Highwayz manages to capitalize on a mistake by Kaleva to take his back!
Highwayz is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Kaleva wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Highwayz is now in half guard.
Highwayz takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Kaleva works his way to full guard. Good work.

Kaleva is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Highwayz won't allow Kaleva to sweep him here.

Highwayz gets to his feet - Kaleva follows without any prompting.
Highwayz avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Kaleva doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Highwayz counters with a left and a right that stings Kaleva.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Highwayz swats away the attempt to clinch by Kaleva.

Highwayz takes the fight into the clinch.
Highwayz will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Kaleva up against the cage.
Jarno Highwayz is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Highwayz has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Kaleva uses from the top position.
