PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Wanderlei Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Auckley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Silva comes to the cage accompanied by Sandstorm. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Some wild striking there from Silva.
A left and a right from Silva both land. Nice combination.
Auckley shoots for a takedown but Silva saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Silva throws a right and a left that both miss.
Auckley dodges the punch combination from Silva.
Silva stalks Auckley and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Auckley's face. Auckley staggers backwards, shaken.
Auckley throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Silva's waist but Silva gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Auckley off to one side.
Silva will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Auckley shoots for a takedown but Silva saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Wanderlei Silva has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mark Auckley.

Auckley feints and as Silva raises his hands in defense, Auckley changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Auckley won't allow Silva to get back to his feet.

Auckley is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Silva can't keep his opponent in guard - Auckley advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Auckley is working for a submission of some sort.

Auckley is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Silva has managed to free his arm - good work.
Silva is refusing to be controlled, as Auckley sits in half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Auckley wants to work for an arm triangle but Silva is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Auckley uses his free foot to push down on Silva's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Silva.
Poor strikes thrown by Auckley there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Auckley has control of Silva's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Silva regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Auckley working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Silva looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Auckley! Submission of the night perhaps?
