Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Damian Demento (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carl Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Carl Gracie is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Damian Demento!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Carl Gracie!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, George Francis and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie dodges the punch combination from Demento.
Demento fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Demento pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Demento swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Demento gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Gracie to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Gracie looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Demento will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Demento looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Gracie postures up.
Demento knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gracie on the ground.
Gracie's corner is telling him to maintain position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gracie cracks Demento with a solid left hand.
Gracie has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

and Gracie counters with a nice double leg into side control. Demento won't be happy with that.

Demento is not content to let Gracie control the position.
Demento is trying to escape the position but Gracie is controlling the position.

Demento tries to buck Gracie off but Gracie is having none of it.
Gracie wants to control but Demento is keeping him busy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gracie has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Demento is in a horrible position here. Gracie smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Gracie looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

Demento has given up his back here. Will Gracie look for the submission or keep pounding away?

Gracie has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Demento has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Gracie has the hooks in. Demento is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
Gracie is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

Gracie drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Gracie jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Demento looking to hit a scissor sweep but Gracie is one step ahead there.

Gracie won't allow Demento to get back to his feet.
Gracie controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Carl Gracie was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Demento wants to clinch but Gracie slips to the side

and Gracie counters with a takedown into side control.
Gracie wants to lay and pray for a moment but Demento keeps working.
Gracie controls the position.
Demento struggling a bit here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Demento is not content to let Gracie control the position.
Demento takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Carl Gracie has got the better of the ground game so far.
Gracie controls the position.
Gracie trying to control the position but Demento is working away.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Carl Gracie.

and Gracie decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Demento's guard.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Gracie has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Gracie makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Gracie slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Carl Gracie.

Gracie closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Demento to the mat! Demento manages to get full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Carl Gracie showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Demento lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Gracie backs up against the cage.

Demento shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Gracie is trying to defend but Demento finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Gracie is trying to maintain the position but Demento is very close to passing his half guard.
Demento is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

Gracie is not content to let Demento control the position.
Demento is stalling here. Gracie is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Demento seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Gracie has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
