Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tommy Gunn!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bear Mins!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Summer Carpenter and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gunn bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Mins is trying to improve his position.
Gunn trying to control the position but Mins is working away.
Gunn tries to move to mount but Mins blocks the move with his legs.
Mins is trying to improve his position.
Gunn in side control, just content to control the action for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mins sneaks back into half guard.
Mins trying to control but Gunn postures up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Gunn wants to stand but his hand is trapped. Mins uses the opportunity to regain full guard.
Gunn trying to control the position from guard on top but Mins is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Gunn pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Mins is keeping the position for now.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Tommy Gunn wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Mins tries to close the distance and clinch up but Gunn swats him away and circles back towards the center.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Mins tries to clinch but Gunn moves out of range.

and Gunn counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Mins's guard now.
Mins wants to sweep here but Gunn controlling him for the moment.
Mins is controlling Gunn's posture.
Gunn engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Mins is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Mins not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Gunn trying to control but Mins is working from the bottom.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Mins fails with the takedown

so Gunn counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mins keeping moving, preventing Gunn from controlling successfully.
Mins manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Gunn manages to get himself to full guard.
Mins wants to control from the top but Gunn keeps moving.

Gunn working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Mins has passed into half guard!
Gunn is breathing heavily.
Gunn is looking to improve his position.
Mins is looking to advance position but Gunn won't allow it.
Mins seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Gunn does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Mins wants to control but Gunn is keeping him busy.
Gunn is trying to get back to full guard.

Mins is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Gunn is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
