PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Lamar Arrington (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve McRae (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Arrington comes to the cage accompanied by Look What The Cat Dragged In. McRae has chosen Indestructible as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

With a record of 7 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Steve McRae!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Arrington takes a swing at McRae's ribcage but misses.
McRae tries for a takedown but Arrington sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
McRae tries to score with a low kick but Arrington moves his leg out of the way.
McRae tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Arrington manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
McRae throws an overhand right that lands on Arrington's shoulder, as Arrington tries to avoid the shot.
A swing and a miss from McRae.
Steve McRae seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Arrington lands a slapping body shot.
McRae feints and then cracks Arrington's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Arrington down.
Arrington tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but McRae was well out of range. Poor timing from Arrington.

McRae shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Arrington is trying to defend but McRae finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

McRae seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

McRae throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

McRae is trying to control. Arrington wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Steve McRae hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
McRae misses with a hook.
McRae throws a hook but Arrington blocks it.
Arrington throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Arrington throws a series of punches but McRae avoids them all with ease.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
McRae is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Arrington bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
McRae scores with a one two! Arrington had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
McRae throws a right and a left that Arrington avoids nicely.
McRae misses with a body punch
and Arrington counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
McRae misses with a double jab
and Arrington makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Arrington is looking to wear down McRae with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Arrington just misses with a punch to the body.
McRae throws a low kick, looking for Arrington's leg but Arrington calmly moves out of range.
Arrington stuffs the takedown attempt from McRae. McRae gets slowly back to his feet.

Arrington connects with a jab.
McRae closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
McRae misses with a series of wild punches.
A jab from Arrington finds it's way through McRae's defenses.
McRae looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
McRae throws a big shot that misses.
McRae shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Lamar Arrington has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Steve McRae.
McRae tries for a takedown but Arrington sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
No joy there for McRae, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Arrington stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Arrington slips a jab from McRae.
Arrington stuns McRae with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
McRae tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Arrington manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Arrington sizes up McRae with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
McRae looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
A bone on bone clash there as Arrington blocks the leg kick.
Arrington throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
McRae tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Arrington counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Arrington avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

McRae throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Arrington throws a hook but McRae avoids it easily.

Arrington fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.

Arrington uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by McRae.
McRae bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Arrington scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Lamar Arrington is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
McRae scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
McRae throws a shot to the body.
Arrington drops McRae with a huge uppercut! McRae drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes. Arrington is raining down punches and the ref stops the fight! This one is all over!
