Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Roke Junior (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and kyle connelly (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). kyle connelly told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Roke Junior!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, kyle connelly!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Damien Edna and Eliza Hachem.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
connelly tries a head kick but it misses.
kyle connelly seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
connelly is trying hard to land a takedown here. Junior sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
connelly fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Junior scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
connelly shoots for a takedown but Junior saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Roke Junior has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of kyle connelly.

connelly gets caught flat footed, as Junior shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Junior slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Junior has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
connelly is trying to control the position but Junior postures up.
Junior is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Junior's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Roke Junior.

Junior is taking a breather. connelly says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
This has been an exciting period of action!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Roke Junior just wasn't active enough.

connelly scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
I wouldn't like to be where Junior is right now.

connelly is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Junior is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

connelly swings around for an armbar but Junior sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into connelly's guard.

Junior stands up and waves to connelly to follow him.

Junior closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. connelly did well to prevent Junior getting side control.

connelly is trying to maintain the position but Junior is very close to passing his half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Junior in particular looking to stall.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Junior stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
The fighters circle momentarily. Junior darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Junior has closed the distance and engaged connelly in a clinch.
connelly prevents a takedown attempt there.

Junior tightens his grip and picks connelly up, before dumping him to the ground. connelly manages to land in guard.

Junior's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Roke Junior has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Junior is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Junior moves into the clinch.
Junior drops down looking for an ankle pick but connelly pulls his leg out and moves away.

connelly jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Junior walks away with a smile on his face. connelly gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Junior has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. connelly is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Junior has clasped his hands together around connelly's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
You can see the frustration on connelly's face as Junior controls the position.

Junior has worked his way into a potential kimura here. connelly is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Junior yanks on the arm and connelly is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Junior.
