Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sikakama Satama (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brandon Vera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Satama comes to the cage accompanied by Summoning - Where Winters Forever Cry. Brandon Vera told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Sikakama Satama!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Brandon Vera!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Shigeki Fujiwara and Tatsuya Matsuyama.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Satama changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Vera tries to avoid it but Satama manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Vera to the ground. Vera escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Vera doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Satama counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Vera darts in trying to clinch
so Satama counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Satama is looking to advance position but Vera has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
Satama tries to hold on but Vera postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Vera is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Satama has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Vera looking to secure an arm triangle but Satama defends it well.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Vera swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Satama is now in Vera's guard. A big mistake from Vera there, giving up the dominant position!
Satama knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Vera on the ground.
Satama thows a big elbow that misses.
Satama stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Vera swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Satama throwing strikes from guard but Vera blocks nicely.
Satama working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Satama stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Vera swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Satama looking to sit in guard and control but Vera gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Vera tries to free his leg and advance position but Satama is retaining full guard.

Vera drops back, looking for a kneebar! Satama looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Satama looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Satama!

Satama is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Vera knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Satama is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Vera will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Vera can't do much from the bottom here.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Satama throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Vera works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.
Satama is looking for a kimura here.
Vera is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Satama pulls his head out easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Sikakama Satama dominated that round.
That's time! Satama's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
A left and a right from Satama both land. Nice combination.
It looks like Brandon Vera has been cut.
Satama tries to clinch up.
Satama drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Satama goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Vera rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Satama's guard! Nice work there by Vera!
Vera drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Satama dives on top into guard.
Vera preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Satama trying to control but Vera is working from the bottom.
Vera keeping full guard, as Satama tries to pass.
Vera controls Satama momentarily but Satama frees himself.
Vera keeping moving, preventing Satama from controlling successfully.
Satama is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Vera is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Sikakama Satama.
Vera shoots in for a takedown but Satama shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Vera doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Satama counters with a stiff right hand.
Vera slips under a jab from Satama.
Sikakama Satama is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Satama closes the distance and pushes Vera back into the cage.

Vera has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Satama is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Sikakama Satama has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brandon Vera.
Vera wants to break the clinch but can't.
Satama tries to break free but Vera pushes him back against the cage.
Satama turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Vera wants to control but Satama postures up.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Vera is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a tringle but Satama frees his head nicely. Oh but Vera has switched to an armbar! Satama is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
