PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jarppi Virne (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Homicidal Maniac (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Virne comes to the cage accompanied by Jeff van Dyck - Soldier's Chant. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maniac throws a head kick that looked like it stung.

It looks like Jarppi Virne has been cut.
Virne shoots for a double leg takedown but Maniac sprawls well. He's pushed Virne's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Virne throws a looping overhand right but Maniac ducks down to avoid it.
Maniac lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

Virne drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Maniac is looking for a sweep.
Maniac is trying to buck Virne off.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Virne stands up.
Virne stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Maniac.
Virne is breathing heavily.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Maniac. Virne shrugs it off though.
Maniac lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.

Maniac lands a high kick to the side of Virne's head that stuns him and send him tumbling down to the canvas! Maniac dives into guard, looking to finish.

Maniac tries to stand but his arm is trapped.

Virne is not content to let Maniac control the position.

Maniac is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Virne defends it well.

Maniac is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Virne sees it coming and defends easily.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Maniac wants to free his trapped foot but Virne is holding on for dear life with his legs.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Maniac is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Virne still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Virne has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!
Maniac gets back to half guard.
Virne not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Virne wants to pass to mount but Maniac is defending the position.
Maniac moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Maniac escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Virne gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Virne won't allow Maniac to get back to his feet.
Virne is looking to work some ground and pound but Maniac has wrist control.
Virne trying to control but Maniac is working from the bottom.

Maniac is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a tringle but Virne frees his head nicely. Oh but Maniac has switched to an armbar! Virne is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
