The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Makunouchi changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Shakesphere lands with a hook. Makunouchi tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Makunouchi tries for a takedown but Shakesphere sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Shakesphere misses with a few strikes there.
Makunouchi dodges the punch combination from Shakesphere.
Ippo Makunouchi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Shakesphere throws a right and a left that both miss.
Shakesphere throws a looping overhand right but Makunouchi ducks down to avoid it.
Shakesphere circles away from the clinch attempt.
Shakesphere takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

Makunouchi shoots in looking for a takedown. Shakesphere tries to sprawl out of it but Makunouchi keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Shakesphere manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Shakesphere lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Makunouchi backs up against the cage.

It looks like Ippo Makunouchi has been cut.
Shakesphere misses with the combination.
Makunouchi swings for the body but Shakesphere moves out of range.
Makunouchi is looking to clinch but Shakesphere is avoiding it.
Makunouchi misses with a looping left.
Shakesphere rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Makunouchi moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Makunouchi misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Shakesphere.
Makunouchi misses with a two punch combination.
Makunouchi shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Shakesphere sprawls well. Shakesphere wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Makunouchi gets slowly back to his feet.
William Shakesphere has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ippo Makunouchi.

Shakesphere is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Makunouchi misses with an uppercut.

and Makunouchi counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Makunouchi closes this distance looking for a takedown but Shakesphere circles away.
Makunouchi scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Oh Shakesphere is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Makunouchi Rushes Shakesphere and starts throwing punches like they are going out of style! Shakesphere is up against the cage and has nowhere to go. Makunouchi Piles on the pressure and Shakesphere crumples to the floor! This one is all over!
