PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jun Kimura (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Linus Rydanovic (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rydanovic has chosen acdc - war machine as his entrance music. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jun Kimura!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Linus Rydanovic!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Kenichi Hosakawa and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rydanovic tries for a takedown but Kimura sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Rydanovic.
Rydanovic moves in looking to clinch but Kimura pushes him off.

Kimura closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Kimura lands in his opponent's guard.

Kimura's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Rydanovic really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kimura. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Jun Kimura just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Rydanovic throws a head kick but Kimura moves out of range.

and Kimura counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Rydanovic!

Kimura takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Rydanovic throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Kimura shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Kimura takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Kimura frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Rydanovic has given up his back. Will we see Kimura going for some submissions?

Rydanovic tries to escape but Kimura has the hooks in and won't let him break free.

Rydanovic is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Rydanovic is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Kimura's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Kimura's back!

Rydanovic is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Kimura gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Rydanovic counters with a series of strikes. Kimura will be more careful next time no doubt.

Kimura fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Rydanovic sprawls well initially but Kimura persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Kimura is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Rydanovic has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Kimura, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
