Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Heikki Mela!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Donnie badge!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Matti Vanhoillinen and Roosa Järviläinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mela moves in looking to clinch but badge pushes him off.
Mela shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches badge napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Mela has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
badge gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Mela postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Mela stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. badge swivels though and keeps the full guard.
badge can't keep his opponent in guard - Mela advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
badge is looking for a sweep. Mela is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
badge looks like he's trying to stand up.
Mela stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows badge to get to his feet.
Mela moves into range and clinches up with badge.
That's one minute gone in the round.
badge breaks the clinch.
badge doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Mela counters with a right hand to the body.
Mela falls off balance throwing a combination
and badge makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Mela really felt that one!
Mela swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and badge counters with a straight right hand.
Mela is breathing heavily.
Mela gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
badge slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
badge stands up from Mela's guard - badge perhaps looking for a knockout.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
badge scores with a nice right hand.
badge throws a one two combo.
Mela tries to close the distance and clinch but badge swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Mela pushes badge up against the cage in a clinch.
badge gets through Mela's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Mela tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
badge looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Mela drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
badge has picked Mela up - he's going for a ride! badge dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
It looks like badge is going to stand back up.
badge gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
That's three minutes gone in the round.
badge connects with an inside leg kick.
badge keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Heikki Mela. That's going to take a lot out of him.
A good leg kick by badge.
badge misses with a kick to the body.
badge keeps Mela at a distance using the push kick.
badge lands a big head kick that sends Mela tumbling to the mat! badge takes a step backwards and waves Mela back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Mela is rocked!
It looks like Heikki Mela has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
badge steps into range and unloads a brutal right left combo! Mela is out on his feet! badge sets himself and nearly takes Mela's head off with a straight right, sending him crashing to the mat! Wow, that was nasty... but awesome! Wooo!
