The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Starr tries to keep at a distance but Veliki has taken the fight into the clinch.

Veliki breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
A head kick misses from Starr.
Veliki takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Veliki is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Veliki.
Veliki tries to bum rush Starr with a series of wild strikes but Starr uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Nice sprawl there from Starr as Veliki shoots in.
Starr tries to clinch up but Veliki circles away and keeps his distance.
Starr shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Veliki counters with a takedown into side control.
Starr tries to buck Veliki off but Veliki is having none of it.
Starr can't do much from the bottom here.

Veliki tries for a kimura but Starr is defending well.
Veliki will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Veliki swings around for an armbar but Starr sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Veliki's guard.

Starr has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Veliki is proving hard to escape from.
Veliki pulls Starr in close to prevent any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Veliki's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Vladimir Veliki just wasn't active enough.

Veliki shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Starr manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Starr controls Veliki momentarily but Veliki frees himself.
Veliki seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Starr is breathing heavily.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Starr gets tackled into the cage by Veliki. Veliki maintains the clinch.
Starr goes for a takedown in the clinch but Veliki prevents it.
Starr is trying to push Veliki away but Veliki has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Veliki manages to pull guard.
Veliki wants to stand but Starr is controlling the position.
Veliki is pulling down on Starr's head. It's preventing any offense from Starr, at least for the moment.
Veliki doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
