Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, James Power!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Takumi Nishijo!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Power looks to land a combination but Nishijo avoids it well.
James Power seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Power moves into the clinch.

Nishijo has clasped his hands together around Power's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

Nishijo wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Power, who protects the arm well.
Power can't do much from the bottom here.

Nishijo working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Nishijo thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Power on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Power tries to get out of the position.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Nishijo tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Nishijo has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Nishijo is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Power knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Power wants to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Takumi Nishijo dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Power clinches up against the cage.
Nishijo changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Power fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Power fails in his attempt to clinch.
Nishijo steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Power.
James Power is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Power throws a looping overhand right but Nishijo ducks down to avoid it.
Power looks to throw the jab but Nishijo is out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Power tries to close the distance and clinch up but Nishijo swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Power lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
A combination from Power does no damage.
Power works Nishijo's body with a nice hook.

Power stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Power wants it to stay on the feet.
Power tries to clinch there but Nishijo circles away.
Power throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Nishijo.
Power misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Nishijo slips a jab and a cross from Power.
Nishijo avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Power pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Power tries to clinch but Nishijo is having none of it.
Power connects with a nice looking jab.
Nishijo fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
James Power has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Takumi Nishijo.
Power is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Power fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
No luck for Nishijo with that takedown attempt.
Donk. Power catches Nishijo right on the button with a cross.
Power throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.


Nishijo is rocked!

Power closes the distance and clinches.
Nishijo is still on wobbly legs! Can Power finish him?
Nishijo avoids the elbow strike from Power, against the cage.
Power dips a shoulder and cracks Nishijo with a mighty uppercut! Nishijo falls back against the cage and Power unloads with a barrage of strikes! Nishijo is completely out with his eyes open, only supported by the cage! Save him ref! Eventually the ref decides to do his job and jumps in - Power screams abuse at the incompetent official before going over to celebrate with his corner. Brutal stuff!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:51 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). James Power!
