PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Disis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alikai Drustav (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Disis kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Polly Jean Harvey - Angry Johnny. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 11 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Johnny Disis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alikai Drustav!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Illya Tyunina and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Drustav throws a lazy right hand but Disis sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Drustav throws the left hand but Disis avoids the punch easily.
A shot to the liver by Drustav. Beautiful body shot.
Drustav tries to work over Disis's front leg with a kick but Disis checks it.

Disis closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Drustav is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

Disis working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Disis throws a strike aimed at the side of Drustav's head but Drustav avoids it well.

Disis swings around for an armbar but Drustav sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Disis's guard.

Drustav drops back, looking for a kneebar! Disis looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Disis looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Disis!

Disis thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Disis tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Disis has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Disis, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
