PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Paul Hollins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jeorge Johanson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hollins comes to the cage accompanied by The Prodigy - Warrior's Dance. Johanson is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Saviorself. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Paul Hollins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jeorge Johanson!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Albert Achterberg and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hollins is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Hollins throws a hook but Johanson avoids it easily.
Hollins throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Hollins ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Hollins lands a body shot.
Johanson moves away from the strike by Hollins.

Johanson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Hollins wants to improve his position but instead Johanson has moved into half guard.
Hollins tries to get to full guard but Johanson has control of the leg.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Johanson wants to control but Hollins is keeping him busy.

Hollins is looking to get back to full guard here but Johanson has managed to pass to side control instead.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Hollins lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Johanson circles away quickly and effectively.
Hollins chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Johanson can pounce on him.
Paul Hollins is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

A decent looking cross lands there for Johanson.
Johanson lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Hollins at a distance.

Johanson connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.

Some wild striking there from Hollins.
Hollins throws a nice looking combination but Johanson bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Johanson shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Hollins manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Johanson must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Johanson uses his free foot to push down on Hollins's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Hollins.
Hollins is wriggling around trying to escape.
Hollins wants to hold on but Johanson pushes him away.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Hollins really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Johanson takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jeorge Johanson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Hollins's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


The fight stays on the outside here - Hollins looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Hollins takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
Paul Hollins seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hollins ducks right into an uppercut from Johanson.
Hollins tries to move into range but Johanson moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Hollins avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Johanson drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Johanson slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Hollins sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Johanson is taking a breather. Hollins says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Johanson is looking to advance position but Hollins won't allow it.
Paul Hollins has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Johanson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hollins keeps working.
Hollins is pressing down on Johanson's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Jeorge Johanson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Johanson has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
