Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Luke Castilano (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Holliday (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Holliday has chosen BOOM! as his entrance music. Luke Castilano had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 1, fighting out of New York, John Holliday!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Russell Pearce and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Castilano misses with a wild combination.

Castilano closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Castilano is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Castilano tries to pass to full mount but Holliday defends it.
Holliday is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Castilano uses his free foot to push down on Holliday's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Holliday.

Castilano swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Holliday is now in Castilano's guard. A big mistake from Castilano there, giving up the dominant position!

Castilano is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Holliday defends well.

Holliday wants to get up but he can't break Castilano's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Castilano manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Castilano postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Holliday looks a forlorn figure.

Castilano is working for a guillotine from mount but Holliday frees his head quite easily.

Castilano goes for an armbar but Holliday turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Holliday.

Castilano has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Holliday can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Holliday throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Castilano cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

John Holliday showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
