Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Josh Kiernan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and DJ Sechrist (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kiernan's entrance music is I Need A Doctor. A fine choice. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Josh Kiernan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, DJ Sechrist!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Daniel Franklin and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sechrist shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Sechrist was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Sechrist wants to get back to his feet but Kiernan is holding on tight.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sechrist trying to control but Kiernan is having none of it.
Kiernan working to try and regain half guard.
Kiernan tries to lock up and control but Sechrist gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Kiernan is squirming around, avoiding Sechrist's attempts to control the action.
Sechrist thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Kiernan is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
Sechrist trying to control but he's not successful this time.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Sechrist swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Kiernan is now in Sechrist's guard. A big mistake from Sechrist there, giving up the dominant position!
Sechrist wants to improve his position but instead Kiernan has moved into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sechrist wants to improve his position but Kiernan is controlling well.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sechrist is trying to maintain the position but Kiernan is very close to passing his half guard.
Sechrist wants to sweep but Kiernan has passed to side control!
Sechrist tries to contro but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.
Sechrist is in all sorts of trouble here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Sechrist tries to improve his position but instead Kiernan has taken his back!
Sechrist trying to control the position but Kiernan manages to sink in the hooks.
Sechrist is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Kiernan is staying active.
Kiernan controlling well, preventing Sechrist from escaping the position.
Kiernan just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Kiernan's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Josh Kiernan will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Sechrist decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Sechrist trying to control the action but Kiernan is working from the bottom.

Kiernan makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

Kiernan shoots in and gets a takedown into Sechrist's guard.
Sechrist wants to hit a switch here but Kiernan passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Sechrist there!
Sechrist is desperately trying to improve his position but Kiernan has a good base and remains in mount.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kiernan controlling the pace for now.
Sechrist is trying to reverse the position but instead Kiernan has taken his back - oops!
Kiernan is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Sechrist tries to roll but Kiernan sticks to his back.
Sechrist trying to control the action but Kiernan just sinks the hooks in.
I really don't envy Sechrist right now.
Kiernan really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Sechrist.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kiernan is hanging on to Sechrist's back as he tries to escape.
Kiernan is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Sechrist tries to break free.

Sechrist has hold of Kiernan's leg, trying to break free but it's let Kiernan lock up a rear naked choke! This could be big trouble! Sechrist is turning an unusual color here… he's out! Kiernan throws him to one side and jumps onto the cage to celebrate with his fans.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:18 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Josh Kiernan!
