PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jon Jordan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jonas Loteyro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Loteyro is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j5-yKhDd64s. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jon Jordan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jonas Loteyro!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jordan tries for a takedown but Loteyro sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Jordan scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jordan is taking a breather. Loteyro says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Jordan working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Jordan slows the pace down in half guard.

We're going to have a standup here because Jon Jordan wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Loteyro gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Jordan to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Loteyro controls Jordan momentarily but Jordan frees himself.

Jordan tries to free his leg and advance position but Loteyro is retaining full guard.
Jordan not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Jordan drives through with a takedown into guard.
Jordan is stalling in the full guard.
Jordan connects with a couple of short punches.

Loteyro not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Jordan stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Loteyro swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Loteyro wants to sweep here but Jordan controlling him for the moment.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Jon Jordan just wasn't active enough.

Jordan is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Loteyro's half guard.
Loteyro is looking to control Jordan's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Loteyro avoid being mounted?

Jordan frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Jordan lands a big shot there that rocks Loteyro but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Jordan lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Jordan is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Loteyro can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Jordan has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Loteyro gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Jordan to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Jordan controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Jordan gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Jordan.
Jordan remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Loteyro is breathing heavily.

Jordan tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Jordan moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.

Jordan is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Loteyro has escaped the position, nice work there.

Jordan is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Loteyro knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Jordan decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Jordan closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Loteyro did well to prevent Jordan getting side control.
Jon Jordan overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Jordan seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Loteyro for as long as he can get away with.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Jordan has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jordan closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Jordan content to control rather than advance.
Loteyro takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Jon Jordan wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Jordan throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Loteyro tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Jordan is in Loteyro's guard.

Jordan not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Jordan makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Jordan is pushing down on Loteyro's leg trying to pass to half guard. Loteyro is fighting to maintain full guard but Jordan has managed to sneak the leg through.

Jordan is working for a submission of some sort.
Loteyro is in trouble now - Jordan has advanced to mount!
Jordan fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Loteyro looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!
Jordan is riding his opponent, not letting Loteyro buck him off.

Jordan is persistently looking for the submission but Loteyro is defending it well.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Jordan, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
