The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kento looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Kento shoots in for a takedown but Malakas shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Malakas fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Kento sprawls well initially but Malakas persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Malakas is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Malakas seems to be working for a kimura but Kento defends the submission attempt.
Kento pushes Malakas off looking to stand but Malakas dives back in and keeps control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
