The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
super misses with a hook. Payne ducked under it nicely.

super rushes Payne and presses him up against the cage.

Payne breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Some wild striking there from Payne.
Payne tries to bum rush super with a series of wild strikes but super uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Payne throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Payne fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Payne shoots in but no luck this time.
Nice cross by super.

It looks like Dr Payne has been cut.
super bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Payne's head backwards.

super gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
super is trying to push Payne away but Payne has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Payne breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Payne fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Dustin super has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dr Payne.
super comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Payne looks gassed!

Payne gets tackled into the cage by super. super maintains the clinch.
super displaying some good clinch control by pressing Payne up against the cage.
Payne has super pressed against the cage, preventing super from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
super lands a right hand that snaps the head of Payne backwards.
Payne tries to pull guard but super won't allow it.
super wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Payne has him pressed against the cage.
Payne wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

super breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Payne throws a nice looking combination but super bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Payne throws a head kick that misses.

super cracks Payne with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Payne looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can super finish him?
super lands a jab to the head.

Payne is rocked!

super rushes Payne and presses him up against the cage.
super blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

Payne is fighting off a takedown attempt but super is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Payne to the mat. Payne regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

super is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
