Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ritchie Blackmore (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ray Jones Jr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Blackmore comes to the cage accompanied by Sometimes My Opponent Feels Like Screaming. Jones Jr has chosen Cant be touched as his entrance music. Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ritchie Blackmore!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
11 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ray Jones Jr!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones Jr misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Blackmore.
Jones Jr throws a nice looking combination but Blackmore bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
A looping hook to the body misses from Jones Jr. Blackmore does a little dance to reset his feet.
Blackmore slips a jab from Jones Jr.
Blackmore ducks under a wild hook from Jones Jr.
Blackmore shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Jones Jr eats them both and turns towards Blackmore to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Jones Jr fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Blackmore manages to avoid it.
Blackmore fails to land the takedown.
Blackmore swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Jones Jr counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Blackmore showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Jones Jr.
Blackmore throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Jones Jr was covering up waiting for the punch and Blackmore finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Blackmore drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Blackmore jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Blackmore stands and throws Jones Jr's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Blackmore tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Blackmore has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Blackmore is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Jones Jr has escaped the position, nice work there.
Blackmore has hold of Jones Jr's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Jones Jr seems comfortable defending it but Blackmore has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Jones Jr is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Jones Jr is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Blackmore couldn't care less - he's delighted!
