Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nick Hero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Trent Hinkelton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hinkelton is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: '2001 A Space Odyssey' Theme . Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Nick Hero!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Trent Hinkelton!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Skip Squint and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hero displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Hinkelton.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Hinkelton is looking for a kimura but Hero is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Hinkelton to get the leverage.
Hero wants to improve his position but Hinkelton is controlling well.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hero closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Hero lands in his opponent's guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

That was a close second round but I would say that Nick Hero will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!



Hero shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Hero was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Hero wants to control the pace but Hinkelton is squirming around nicely.
Hinkelton takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Hinkelton tries to hold on but Hero pushes him away.

Hero doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Hinkelton counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Hero's guard now.
Hero has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hinkelton accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Hinkelton postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Hero had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Hinkelton defends it easily.
Hero is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Nick Hero.
I think Hero has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
