Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Matt Ryan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Andy Bernard!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Shigeki Sano and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bernard shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Ryan manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Bernard is looking to work some ground and pound but Ryan has wrist control.
Bernard advances position into side control!
Ryan tries to escape but Bernard is in control.

Bernard swings around for an armbar but Ryan sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Bernard's guard.
Ryan pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Bernard is keeping the position for now.
Ryan looking to sit in guard and control but Bernard gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Ryan keeping moving, preventing Bernard from controlling successfully.
Bernard might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Ryan kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ryan is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Bernard dives into side control.
The ground and pound from Bernard seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

Bernard working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Bernard is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Ryan has escaped the position, nice work there.

Bernard tries for a kimura but Ryan is defending well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Bernard tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Bernard has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Ryan tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Bernard is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Ryan has escaped the position, nice work there.
Bernard misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Ryan knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Bernard on the ground.
Ryan is looking for a sweep.

Bernard wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Ryan, who protects the arm well.
Ryan really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Bernard is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Ryan is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Ryan is looking for a sweep.

Bernard has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Ryan is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Bernard yanks on the arm and Ryan is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Bernard.
