PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kris Novak (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dick Slapp (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Kris Novak!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Dick Slapp!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Steven Brown and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Novak throws a lazy right hand but Slapp sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Novak fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Novak changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Slapp tries to avoid it but Novak manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Slapp to the ground. Slapp escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Novak shoots in and drives through. Slapp sprawls well.
Novak closes this distance looking for a takedown but Slapp circles away.

and Slapp counters with a three punch combo that has Novak backing up. Novak nods at Slapp to acknowledge the strikes.

Slapp is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Novak can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Slapp looks to land a combination but Novak avoids it well.
Novak misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

so Slapp counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Slapp is pushing down on Novak's leg trying to pass to half guard. Novak is fighting to maintain full guard but Slapp has managed to sneak the leg through.

Slapp decides to stand and escape the position.

Slapp goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Novak turns into him and now he's in Slapp's guard.

Slapp pushes Novak off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Dick Slapp showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Novak lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Novak tries to close the distance and clinch up but Slapp swats him away and circles back towards the center.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Slapp has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Dick Slapp comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Slapp winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
