The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Robert Twigg and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Firpo pushes Pelegrino away with a front kick.
Firpo misses with a jab, cross combination.

Pelegrino connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Firpo lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
It looks like Jay Pelegrino has been cut.

Pelegrino shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Firpo's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Pelegrino lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Pelegrino.
Pelegrino throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Firpo was covering up waiting for the punch and Pelegrino finishes the takedown easily into guard.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Pelegrino holds on and takes a little breather.

Firpo throws a strike but Pelegrino rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Jay Pelegrino hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Pelegrino shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Pelegrino was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
