Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Shawn Sandman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ritchie Ravenhill (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sandman comes to the cage accompanied by Enter Sandman. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Shawn Sandman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Ritchie Ravenhill!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, William Gold and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ravenhill fails with an attempt to clinch.
Sandman lands an overhand right.
A cross from Sandman lands.

Sandman drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Sandman works to advance to full mount. Ravenhill defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Sandman fails to take his opponent's back.
Sandman working away from the top, dropping strikes.
Sandman looking to control but Ravenhill is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Sandman wants to take his opponent's back but Ravenhill doesn't allow it.
Sandman has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Sandman is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Ravenhill has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Sandman looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Sandman tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Sandman is working for a guillotine from mount but Ravenhill frees his head quite easily.

Ravenhill takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.


It looks like Ritchie Ravenhill has been cut.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Sandman working for a guillotine from mount but Ravenhill is in no mood to give up.

Sandman is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Ravenhill to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Ravenhill shrugs it off.

Ravenhill has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.

Ravenhill is trying to get back to his feet. He's worked up on to his knees and now he's on his feet with his head on the canvas, trying to shake Sandman off. It looks like it's working - Sandman slides off, much to his dismay, and we're back to standing! Ravenhill displaying calm under pressure there.
Sandman works the jab nicely.
Sandman lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Ravenhill backs up against the cage.

Sandman drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Ravenhill can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Sandman controls the pace.
Sandman wants to control from the top but Ravenhill keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



A momentary lapse in concentration from Ravenhill enables Sandman to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Ravenhill manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Sandman uses his free foot to push down on Ravenhill's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Ravenhill.
Sandman pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Ravenhill is in a horrible position here. Sandman smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Sandman is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Ravenhill can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Sandman goes for an armbar but Ravenhill turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Ravenhill.

Ravenhill wanted to stand there but Sandman had control of the position.
Ravenhill is breathing heavily.
Sandman wants to sweep here but Ravenhill controlling him for the moment.
Sandman is working hard here to advance position.

Ravenhill tries to stand but Sandman is controlling from the bottom.
Sandman pulls Ravenhill in close to prevent any damage.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Sandman thuds his right hand into Ravenhill's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Ravenhill takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Sandman scores with a jab to the jaw.
Sandman cracks Ravenhill with an open hand slap.
Sandman feints a jab promting Ravenhill to slip. Sandman then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Ravenhill slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Sandman cracks Ravenhill with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Sandman connects with a crisp jab.
No joy there for Sandman, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sandman lands with an overhand left.

Ravenhill gets caught flat footed, as Sandman shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Sandman slips nicely into half guard.
Ravenhill gets back to full guard.

Sandman is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Sandman passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Ravenhill!

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Sandman shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Sandman has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Ravenhill takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Sandman's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Sandman has both hooks in and is working for a choke. Ravenhill is in real trouble here. Sandman gets an arm under the chin and tightens the submission attempt... is this the end? Yes, Ravenhill is tapping out! Sandman wins by rear naked choke!
