The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ryan scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Ryan takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Mendez clinches with his opponent.
Mendez slowing the pace effectively.
Mendez escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Mendez moves in looking to clinch but Ryan pushes him off.
Mendez throws a front kick that sends Ryan stumbling back into the cage.
Ryan is breathing heavily.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Ryan gets tackled into the cage by Mendez. Mendez maintains the clinch.

Ryan goes for a takedown attempt but Mendez pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Ryan keeps the fight on the outside.
Mendez decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Mendez is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Ryan is in trouble now - Mendez has advanced to mount!
Mendez pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Mendez trying to control but Ryan is having none of it.
Ryan knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Mendez on the ground.
Mendez swings around for an armbar and he's got it! Wow, that came out of nowhere! What a finish!
