And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Royce Gracie!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Sosuke Kotani.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Summers.
Summers tries a head kick but it misses.
Scott Summers seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Summers explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
Summers tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Summers chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Summers tries to land a front kick but Gracie steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Gracie drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Summers tries to buck Gracie off but Gracie is having none of it.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Summers has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Gracie is working away from the top position though.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Summers working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Gracie doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Gracie manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Gracie drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Summers manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Gracie has Summers in his guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Summers sets himself and throws a head kick that knocks Gracie to the ground! Summers dives into full mount looking to finish!

Summers is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Gracie can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Gracie wants to hold on but Summers pushes him away.

Gracie is in all sorts of trouble here.

Summers is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Gracie to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Gracie shrugs it off.

Summers has control of Gracie's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Gracie regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Gracie fails to land with a series of punches.
Summers looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.

Gracie sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Gracie misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Summers throws a push kick but Gracie slaps the foot to one side.
Gracie steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Summers. That one must have hurt.
Summers throws a nice inside leg kick.

Summers throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Gracie.
Summers moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Gracie tries for a takedown but Summers sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Summers pulls out of a head kick attempt.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Summers enables Gracie to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Summers manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Summers has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Gracie can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Gracie got a little sloppy there for a moment and Summers has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Gracie has managed to get both his arms back between Summers's legs - danger averted.

Gracie works to advance to full mount. Summers defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Gracie has hold of Summers's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Summers manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Summers is in a horrible position here. Gracie smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Gracie looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Summers sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.

Gracie is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

I think Gracie has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
