The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hughes walks into a straight right hand from Pawn.
Black Pawn seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A looping hook to the body misses from Pawn. Hughes does a little dance to reset his feet.
Hughes fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Pawn defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Hughes.
Hughes keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Pawn.
Hughes shoots in looking for a takedown but Pawn manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Hughes's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Matt Hughes. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hughes is breathing heavily.

Pawn cracks Hughes with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Pawn has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Hughes to stand back up!

Pawn lands an uppercut, right on the button! Hughes tumbles backwards into the ropes, staring vacantly into space! He's got no idea where he is, who he is or what day it is... Poor guy.
