Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tank Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hunter Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tank Johnson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Hunter Jackson!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Alyssa Summers and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Jackson.

Johnson shoots in and bounces Jackson off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Johnson is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Jackson is looking for a triangle but Johnson pushes his legs off easily.
Jackson wants to get back to his feet but Johnson is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Johnson slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Tank Johnson has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Jackson fails with the takedown

and Johnson counters with a shoot takedown. Jackson fights it but they end up in guard.
Johnson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Jackson on the ground.
Johnson scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Johnson thows a big elbow that misses.
Jackson can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Johnson controls the pace.
Jackson looks gassed!

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Johnson has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Tank Johnson.

and Johnson counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Tank Johnson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hunter Jackson.

Johnson lands a nice hook to Jackson's body. Jackson takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Johnson tries to bum rush Jackson with a series of wild strikes but Jackson uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Johnson feints and as Jackson raises his hands in defense, Johnson changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Johnson advances position into side control!

Johnson stands up and beckons Jackson to his feet.
Johnson tries to bum rush Jackson with a series of wild strikes but Jackson uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Johnson throws a right hand that Jackson ducks under and follows up with a left that Jackson also avoids with ease.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Johnson is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tank Johnson dominated that round.
That's time! Johnson's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Johnson fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
No joy there for Johnson, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Johnson throws a low kick but Jackson moves out of range easily.
Jackson shoots and misses

and Johnson counters with a single leg into guard. Jackson didn't expect that.

Jackson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Johnson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Johnson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Tank Johnson wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Johnson stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

Johnson looking for a takedown here - he's got it.

Jackson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Johnson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Johnson slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Johnson works his foot free and advances to mount.
Johnson sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Johnson's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Johnson will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Tank Johnson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Johnson is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Jackson can do to turn this around?

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

And that's the end of the fight!
Tank Johnson showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Johnson has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
