Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mauricio Rua!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Xavier Kane!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Paul Aken and Patrick Alders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rua throws a series of strikes that have Kane backpedaling.
Kane looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Kane looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Rua is fending him off so far but Kane persists. Nope, Rua circles away and we're back to standing.
Rua looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Rua tries for a takedown but Kane sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Rua shoots in looking for a takedown. Kane tries to sprawl out of it but Rua keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. Kane manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mauricio Rua. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Kane.
Some wild striking there from Kane.
Rua fails to land the takedown.
Horrible takedown by Rua or perhaps it was just good defense by Kane which made him look bad.
Rua tries to close the distance and clinch up but Kane swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Rua has his takedown stuffed
and Kane counters with a nice double leg into guard.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Rua trying to keep a closed guard but Kane is proving a slippery customer.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Rua bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Kane's guard.
Rua trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Rua passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Rua is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Kane is trying to escape and Rua transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Kane is forced to tap! Nice work there by Rua! Very nice indeed!
