PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dean Perry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Luke Downer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Perry comes to the cage accompanied by Adagio for Strings by Samuel Barber. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Perry slaps away a takedown attempt from Downer, before circling back to the center of the mat.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Perry has had enough of the clinch but Downer keeps him there for the moment.

Downer's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Perry swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

That was a close round but I would say that Dean Perry will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Perry moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Downer takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Perry is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.

Perry has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Downer is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Perry is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Downer's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Downer's back!
Perry lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.

That was a close second round but I would say that Dean Perry will probably get the nod.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
