PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Aiden Rodriguez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chuck Liddle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rodriguez comes to the cage accompanied by Worms Of The Earth. Liddle is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by the theme. Chuck Liddle is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Aiden Rodriguez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chuck Liddle!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Cecil Peabody and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rodriguez tries to clinch up.
Rodriguez throws a lazy right hand but Liddle sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Liddle throws a nice looking combination but Rodriguez bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Liddle will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Liddle circles away from the clinch attempt.
Rodriguez fails to land the takedown.
A head kick misses from Liddle.
Rodriguez throws a head kick that misses.
Liddle tries a head kick but it misses.
Rodriguez wants to clinch.
Rodriguez shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Rodriguez is looking to clinch.

Rodriguez closes the distance and clinches up with Liddle, looking for a takedown. Rodriguez pushes Liddle against the cage but Liddle circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Aiden Rodriguez. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Liddle is working Rodriguez over with some ground and pound from side control.
Rodriguez misses with an elbow from the bottom.
Rodriguez has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Rodriguez tries to bench press Liddle off him but Liddle keeps the position.
Oh Rodriguez is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Liddle in side control lands a decent elbow.
Rodriguez tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Rodriguez is breathing heavily.
Liddle lands a nice forearm strike.
Rodriguez tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Liddle wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Liddle tries to advance to mount but Rodriguez denies him.
Rodriguez seems to have got his legs back now.
Rodriguez is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Liddle tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Rodriguez can't do much from the bottom here.
Rodriguez is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Liddle is controlling him well.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
A nice combination there by Liddle.
Aiden Rodriguez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rodriguez tries to close the distance and clinch but Liddle swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
The fight stays on the outside here - Rodriguez looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Liddle fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

No joy there for Liddle, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Rodriguez connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

and Liddle counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Rodriguez!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Liddle is sitting in close to Rodriguez's body. Rodriguez has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Liddle is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Liddle is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Rodriguez.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:54 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Aiden Rodriguez!
