Couture is coming into this fight with a significant injury, which will no doubt have an effect on his cardio. Dejan Plecas has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Plecas closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Couture is breathing heavily.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Couture enables Plecas to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Couture manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Couture is fighting off a takedown attempt but Plecas is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Couture to the mat. Couture regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Dejan Plecas hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Plecas throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Couture was covering up waiting for the punch and Plecas finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Plecas is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Plecas wants to pass the guard but Couture is keeping the position.

Plecas postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Couture to stand up.

Plecas seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
