PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tommy Farr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rich Convex (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Farr comes to the cage accompanied by Welsh National Anthem. Rich Convex is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Tommy Farr!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Rich Convex!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Donald Grub and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Farr missing with a left hand there. Convex was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Tommy Farr seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Convex takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

Farr gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Convex to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Convex drops back looking for a leg! Farr is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Farr manages to kick Convex off! Convex jumps back into Farr's guard.

Convex has gone for a leg lock! Farr slips out almost immediately though and dives into Convex's guard.
Farr would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Convex is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Farr is aware though and is defending well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Farr has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Convex is proving hard to escape from.
Farr knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Convex on the ground.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Convex tries to land a sweep but no joy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Tommy Farr will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Farr just misses with a punch to the body.
Farr cracks Convex with an open hand slap.
Farr throws a series of punches but Convex moves out of range.
Convex shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Convex drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Convex throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Farr's waist but Farr gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Convex off to one side.
Convex staying out of range there.
Farr throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Farr misses with a wild combination.
Farr lands a nice looking body shot.

Farr scores with a one two! Convex had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Convex takes one on the button.
Farr's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Farr duly obliges.
Convex walks into a straight right hand from Farr.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Tommy Farr is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Farr fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Convex manages to avoid it.
Some wild striking there from Farr.
Convex fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Farr avoids it really well and circles away.
Tommy Farr has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rich Convex.

Farr fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Convex looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Tommy Farr is winning the standup battle so far.

Farr cracks Convex with a right hand to the side of the head.
A big right from Farr misses.
Farr throws a series of punches but Convex moves out of range.
A shot to the body from Convex misses
and Farr counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Good exchange - Farr coming out on top.
Farr displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Convex.
Tommy Farr is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Farr scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Farr lands an overhand right.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Convex shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Farr sprawls well. Farr wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Convex gets slowly back to his feet.
Farr's jab looks to have found its range, popping Convex under the eye.
Farr wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Convex is breathing heavily.
Farr's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Farr duly obliges.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Farr bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Convex's head backwards.
Convex slips a jab and a cross from Farr.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tommy Farr dominated that second round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Farr throws a low kick but it's checked well by Convex.
Farr ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

Farr is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Convex can do to turn this around?
Farr works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.

Farr scores with a jab to the head.

Convex moves forwards but Farr connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Convex takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Convex gets caught by a brutal right hook which buckles his knees! Convex tries to backpedal with his spaghettilegs but Farr is headhunting and goes for the kill. A jab and a right hook connect and Convex buckles badly as his eyes roll back. The referee steps in and saves Convex!! Convex is complaining but he was clearly out on his feet. Farr throws his mouthpiece into the crowd. Mmmm spit-tastic.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:10 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Tommy Farr!
