The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Nard Betker and Radbod Blank.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Teixeira moves into the clinch.
Teixeira tries to pull guard but rodriguez holds him up against the ropes and eventually Teixeira drops back down to his feet.
rodriguez has had enough of the clinch but Teixeira keeps him there for the moment.

cedric rodriguez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cristiano Teixeira.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
rodriguez throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Teixeira blocks it with crossed arms.
rodriguez is trying to break free.
Teixeira gets control of rodriguez's arms and successfully pulls guard. Teixeira will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

rodriguez wants to stand but Teixeira has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Teixeira is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and rodriguez defends well.

Teixeira working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. rodriguez doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. rodriguez manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Teixeira escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. rodriguez gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
rodriguez would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Teixeira is looking for a triangle but rodriguez pushes his legs off easily.
rodriguez will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

rodriguez wants to get up but he can't break Teixeira's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Teixeira pushes a forearm under rodriguez's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, rodriguez is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
