PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Grant Gordon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gordon's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Last resort. Grant Gordon has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gordon closes the distance and clinches up with Smith, looking for a takedown. Gordon pushes Smith against the cage but Smith circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Smith rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Gordon moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Gordon moves away from the strike by Smith.

Gordon feints and as Smith raises his hands in defense, Gordon changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Smith keeping moving, preventing Gordon from controlling successfully.
Smith is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Smith wants to sweep but no luck.
Smith throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

Gordon slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Gordon is defended easily by Smith.

Smith will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Smith throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Gordon stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Smith fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Gordon on the side of the head.
Smith throws a hook but Gordon avoids it easily.
Gordon tries to move into range but Smith moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Gordon shoots in but no luck this time.

Gordon is breathing heavily.
Smith looks to land a right hand but Gordon moved out of range.
Gordon avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Gordon blocks the body kick.
Gordon is trying hard to land a takedown here. Smith sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Smith really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gordon. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Oh Gordon is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
A big shot lands for Smith! That's hurt Gordon! Will he recover? Smith fires away with more strikes and the referee has to step in to stop the fight!
