Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Masahiko Kimura (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Simon Phoenix (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Phoenix is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Oh la!!. Masahiko Kimura could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Simon Phoenix's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Masahiko Kimura!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Simon Phoenix!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Elvis Blanc and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Phoenix swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Phoenix enables Kimura to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Phoenix manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Kimura is pushing down on Phoenix's leg trying to pass to half guard. Phoenix is fighting to maintain full guard but Kimura has managed to sneak the leg through.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Kimurais looking to pass into half guard but Phoenix pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Phoenix is in guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Phoenix is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Kimura is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Phoenix defends well.
Phoenix has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Kimura is proving hard to escape from.

Kimura is trying to control the position but Phoenix postures up.
Kimura is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Kimura thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Phoenix's head.

Kimura looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Kimura looks to land a strike but Phoenix avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Simon Phoenix seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Kimura shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Kimura goes for an armbar but Phoenix turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Phoenix.

Kimura is looking for a triangle here but Phoenix uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Kimura tries to lock up and control but Phoenix gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Phoenix looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Phoenix prevents Kimura from getting the reversal.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Phoenix wants to take Kimura's back here but Kimura is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.

Kimura tries to lock up and control but Phoenix gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Kimura has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Phoenix lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Kimura circles away quickly and effectively.
Phoenix ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Simon Phoenix showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Kimura on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Kimura walks forward, straight into a front kick from Phoenix.
Phoenix lands a front kick.
Kimura takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

Phoenix scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Phoenix lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Phoenix.

Kimura is rocked!
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Phoenix misses with the combination.
Simon Phoenix seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Phoenix sizes up Kimura with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Oh Kimura is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Kimura seems to have got his legs back now.
Phoenix slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Phoenix connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Phoenix delivers a nice body kick.
Kimura shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Phoenix lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Phoenix lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Kimura circles away quickly and effectively.
Kimura takes one to the side of the head.

Phoenix lands a left and a right that send Kimura crashing to the mat, dazed. Phoenix thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Kimura is sent reeling backwards by a solid uppercut. He barely regains his balance and Phoenix moves in for the kill throwing a continuous barrage of punches that force the ref to step in.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:06 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Simon Phoenix!
