Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dr Cox (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and The BillyBoy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
BillyBoy throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

BillyBoy gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Cox to score an easy takedown into full guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Cox is looking to take a break and control but BillyBoy is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Cox remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Cox jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… BillyBoy is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by BillyBoy and Cox has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

BillyBoy is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Cox asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Cox swings around for an armbar but BillyBoy sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Cox's guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Cox looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! BillyBoy has picked Cox up and slammed him! Cox can't keep hold of the triangle and BillyBoy manages to pass to side control!

Cox takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

Cox slips a jab and a cross from BillyBoy.
Cox shoots in for a takedown but BillyBoy shows good takedown defense.

Cox feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
