PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Rodger Tyson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hitoshi Masaru (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tyson's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Mjød, Kvelartak. The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Rodger Tyson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Hitoshi Masaru!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Colin Fotheringham and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tyson blocks a head kick by Masaru.
Masaru throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Tyson shoots in and gets a takedown into Masaru's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Tyson stopping the sweep attempt from Masaru.
Tyson has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Masaru is proving hard to escape from.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Masaru has his foot on Tyson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Tyson works his way back into a safe position though.
Tyson tries to stand but Masaru is controlling from the bottom.
Tyson wants to pass the guard but Masaru is keeping the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Tyson wanted to stand there but Masaru had control of the position.
Masaru looking to hit a scissor sweep but Tyson is one step ahead there.
Tyson wants to get up but he can't break Masaru's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Masaru had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Tyson defends it easily.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Tyson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Masaru has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Tyson is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Masaru.
Masaru gets back to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Masaru is not content to let Tyson control the position.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Tyson tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Masaru.
Tyson throws a strike but Masaru avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Tyson wants to control from the top but Masaru keeps moving.
Masaru looking for a sweep. Not yet Masaru, not yet.
Masaru manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Tyson is trying to escape the mount.
Tyson tries to buck Masaru off but he can't manage it.

Masaru jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Tyson manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Tyson tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Tyson is breathing heavily.
Tyson is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Masaru lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Masaru cracks Tyson with a big right hand but Tyson just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Tyson tries to buck Masaru off but Masaru is having none of it.
Masaru trying to control the position but Tyson is working away.
Masaru works to advance to full mount. Tyson defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Masaru working for a submission but Tyson is keeping him at bay.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Masaru landing strikes from the mount.
Masaru lands a heavy elbow.
Masaru scores with a couple of good head shots there.

Tyson is rocked!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Oh Tyson is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Masaru softens up his opponent with a couple of shots there and then CRACK! One massive shot lands there and Tyson is out cold! Masaru jumps to his feet and celebrates on the cage with the fans, who are, quite frankly, going absolutely mental!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Hitoshi Masaru!
