The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Stanzi gets a takedown into half guard.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

The fighters are battling for position here. Bernardes manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Bernardes looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Stanzi has gone for a leg lock! Bernardes slips out almost immediately though and dives into Stanzi's guard.
Bernardes stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Stanzi swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Bernardes drops back, looking for a kneebar! Stanzi looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Stanzi looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Stanzi!

Stanzi tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Stanzi has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Stanzi is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Bernardes is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Stanzi goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Bernardes has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Stanzi but great work by Bernardes.
