Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Cletus Kasady (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Perrin Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Jones's choice of entrance music: Piggly Wiggly. Perrin Jones has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Cletus Kasady!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Perrin Jones!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Summer Carpenter and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jones darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Kasady is looking to escape.
Jones is nestled in close to Kasady, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Jones is looking to advance position but Kasady won't allow it.
Kasady is not content to let Jones control the position.
Jones missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Kasady wants to get back to his feet.
Jones stalling.
Kasady is trying to stand.

Jones is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Kasady has managed to free his arm - good work.

Kasady has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Jones has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Jones looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jones breaks Kasady's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Kasady looking to hit a scissor sweep but Jones is one step ahead there.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Kasady trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
Jones trying to control but Kasady is working from the bottom.
Kasady wants to get back to his feet but Jones is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Kasady will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Jones pushes Kasady up against the cage in a clinch.

Jones lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Kasady fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Jones manages to avoid it.

Jones throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Jones lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Kasady backwards.
Kasady goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Jones.
Kasady landing knees to the body.
Jones doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Nice body punch from Jones - that landed with a thud.
Jones misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Kasady.
Kasady fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Kasady pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
A short body shot lands from Kasady as the two fighters clinch.

Jones has hold of one of Kasady's legs. Kasady is fighting the takedown attempt but Jones gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Jones accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Jones is looking for a kimura but Kasady is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Jones to get the leverage.

Perrin Jones showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! And we move into the final round!


Kasady throws a push kick but Jones slaps the foot to one side.
Kasady swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Jones.
Jones throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Jones connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Kasady momentarily.
Jones misses with a few strikes there.
Jones shoots in but Kasady avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Kasady misses the body punch
and Jones counters with a nice uppercut.
A looping hook to the body misses from Kasady. Jones does a little dance to reset his feet.
Kasady misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kasady is looking to clinch but Jones is avoiding it.

Jones closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Jones is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Kasady trying to keep a closed guard but Jones is proving a slippery customer.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

We're going to have a standup here because Cletus Kasady wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Jones thuds his shin into the meat of Kasady's side.
Perrin Jones is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Kasady throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Kasady misses with a leg kick
and Jones counters with a lovely straight right hand!
A slow jab from Kasady misses its intended target.
Jones scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Kasady throws a leg kick

and Jones counters with a nice double leg into side control. Kasady won't be happy with that.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Jones has hold of Kasady's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Kasady seems comfortable defending it but Jones has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Kasady is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Kasady is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Jones couldn't care less - he's delighted!
